Saturdays Are Fun: DIY Art Journal Christmas Tree Ornaments

Hi there friends! I’ve taken my white feather Christmas tree, Tangie’s Christmas Banner Printables from her {Studio Box Workshops No. 3} Count Your Blessings, and a vintage Christmas storybook to make an Art Journal Christmas Tree. This is even a fun project that you can do along with your kids. Lots of images, please be patient while it loads.

DIY Instructions for Art Journal Christmas Tree Ornaments

Step 1. Open the blank shapes printable from Tangie’s {Studio Box Workshops No. 3} Count Your Blessings in your photo editing software. Measure your storybook page. Re-size the printable to the size of your storybook page. Print the shapes onto the storybook page.

Step 2. Cut out the shapes. It’s okay if the lines show because we will cover the edges with Stickles glitter in the next step.

Step 3. Use the Stickles Glitter Glue to line the edges of the shape. Allow to dry. I believe 24 hours is preferred to allow it to set. You can gently use a heat tool but be very careful as a heat tool can cause the Stickles to bubble.

Step 4. Repeat steps two and three for all additional shapes.

Step 5. Cut a piece of baker’s twine for an ornament hanger. Thread an embroidery needle with the baker’s twine. Take a dried glittered shape, and poke a hole where you want the twine hanger to be. Pull the needle through. Pull the twine off the needle and center it on the shape (ornament).

Step 6. Tie a knot at the top of the shape.

Step 7. With both lengths together, tie a knot at the end to form a loop.

Step 8. Repeat steps 5-7 for the rest of the shapes/ornaments. Now it’s time to decorate!

There you have it! Super easy and cool Art Journal Christmas Tree Ornaments! Enjoy.

Those look GREAT! What a simple and funky-cool idea! I’ll be thinking on how to do this without my useless printer, maybe with some freehand shapes or cookie cutters.

I’m lusting over that tree!!! Did you make the tree as well? Those feathers are rockin’!

I just worked on putting together a garland this afternoon. I love what you did. Very unique.
