Art Journaling 101: Spotlight on Anahata Katkin
This month we are going to take a look at some of our Favorite Art Journaling Bloggers. The world of Anahata Katkin is magical. She is the owner/creative director behind Papaya! inc., and you can find her on her blog, Anahataart.com, and at the Payapa! Blog. According to her bio, her work is a “synergy between graphic design, painting, and hand made mixed media pieces….heavily influenced by antique ephemera, Asian influences, and an emerging global culture.” You can view the gallery of her Art Journals here.
We love this Art Journal Page by Anahata at http://anahata.typepad.com/photos/artwork/new9.html It’s a mixed media page by Anahata with the quote, “The bird catcher can set them free.” The page is divided in half yet off-center, then each half is again divided off-center. There are two female figures, one holds a bird, while another has two birds in her hairpiece. This is a wonderfully creative and eccentric piece of artwork themed around birds. We challenged the Studio Tangie Creative Team to create a page thus inspired by birds.

Heather: Anahata’s are so wildly imaginative, she inspired me to try something out of my wheelhouse. What a refreshing exercise!

Julie Ann: I love how some of Anahata’s pages are wildy bright and colorful. Absolutely creative that is for sure! I looked at quite a few of Anahata’s collages before being inspired for this particular page.
