What is Your Vision for 2012? What is Your Vision for Your Health?

Many of us make New Year Resolutions to improve our health each year, yet keeping our bodies in good shape is essential. This became personally quite evident to me in 2011.  The final straw was when I had a foot ailment and started limping around, barely able to walk. If you can’t walk, your quality of life is greatly diminished. I am determined to stay in good shape.

For all of us who want a pleasant life, maintaining our bodies is more than just a New Year’s Resolution. It is also more than just exercise. What is Your Vision for Health? Some options include screenings for high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, colorectal cancer (age 50 and above), breast cancer (for women), and abdominal aortic aneurysm (for men ages 65 and 75 with history of smoking).

I’ve lost 5 pounds since Christmas already just by moving more! It did not take much, I began this Starter Workout. I substitute some of the exercises that might be too strenuous for me, as I have Fibromyalgia, by googling alternatives. I’m also going to physical therapy for said foot ailment, and also to the chiropractor as I developed a back problem from all  the limping! All of that is self-care. For instance, I know someone else in my life with Fibromyalgia who complains of similar pains, yet refuses to take care of it and will not go to physical therapy, nor  her doctor to get it checked out. It interrupts her sleep, and thus  her quality of life is affected, sadly.

Disclaimer: I am not a medical professional. Please see your health professional for medical advice, and before starting an exercise regimen.

What is your Vision for Your Health in 2012? Getting enough sleep? Getting Vitamin D from the sun? Treating yourself to a massage? Eating fruits and vegetables? Meditating? Aromatherapy? Taking aspirin as directed by your family doctor? Getting a flu shot? Listening to music? Dancing? Art jouraling?

Take a photo of one thing that is healthy (a recipe, a piece of home gym equipment, new sneakers, the pool at your gym, etc.) and journal about what makes it so.

My Vision for 2012: Health by Cheryl

The focus of my layout is that prayer and meditation, reading of the Bible and inner reflection is the most healthy thing I can do for myself. The story revealed on my page is that I am often lost, wandering around, gazing at stars ~ looking for answers in all the wrong places. Then I remember to seek refuge in God. He keeps me under his wing, protecting me from all kinds of harm. I find solace and wisdom in Him. He makes be believe in my uniqueness and that there is a special path just for me to trod upon in this life. He helps me keep my heart safe and He helps me focus so that I can hear my heart, where He resides. Most of all, through loving Him, I learn to love myself.

My Vision for 2012: Health by Julie Ann Shahin

My inspiration for this page comes from the photo taken this morning by my husband, as I snuggled with my dog Friday. I am not a morning person, and today I was especially sleepy so I snuggled with him on the sofa a bit before getting started with my day. He loves to be right next to me at all times, and my husband thinks it is most adorable when we nap like this so he always takes our picture.

My dog keeps me active, walking every day.  My dog has increased my socialization and I’ve made friends in our neighborhood. My dog raises my serotonin and my dopamine levels. I am never lonely with my dog around, as he is always at my side. He is always ready to snuggle and has lots of love to give. My dog is never critical of me. My dog makes me laugh and smile just by being really cute. He makes me feel needed yet also protected. He is the best dog ever.
