July Desktop-Free for You
The end of June means a new desktop! I have fallen in love with the newest collab by Studio Tangie and Studio Rebecca; Steampunk-Maritime:
Steampunk Maritime The newest in the Steampunk series by mother daughter team.... Studio Rebecca & Studio Tangie! Contains 25 packages of delightful, aquatic enchantment! It's full steam ahead for your journal pages...
This desktop was a personal battle in my life, not to stay safe in the port, no matter what monsters are out there, go and experience the adventure. I hope you enjoy it, and push your ship from the shore a little this month! You can download the desktop HERE. Please note the picture here is a low pixel copy and will look bad as a desktop. The downloadable file is a full size for your computer.

VIP-Interview with Carolyn
You may have seen her work at Scrapbook Graphics under the screen name rajns, today you will meet her as Carolyn one of the ladies on the VIP tour of Tangie’s team! These ladies are taken behind the scenes to the craziness and banter of the Creative Team forum and see the releases before they hit the store. It is an exciting time, and as we get to know and love them, you should get a glimpse of their lives also.
First off, the ladies are given a whole bunch of questions and they can answer as many as they want, or just a few to help us learn about them. Here are a few of the questions that Carolyn answered, and she said she did this on small amounts of sleep (must be that addicting art journaling habit keeping her awake), so all incoherent answers are from her and I did not change them! hee hee

AJC 2011 Parcel #26 Sneak Peek
The year is half over! I am stunned! Then Tangie showed me this week’s parcel and the video that goes with it! Once again, the Art Journal Caravan shows itself to be not only a place to create, but a place to learn how to do those things we see other places. I love to learn and this technique is just awesome. Oh I want to tell more, but I can’t, so instead here is a sneak peek:
See you on the trail!
Weekly Highlights – The Mid-Year Point
Tomorrow is June 21st, the summer solstice in the northern hemisphere and the winter solstice in the southern hemisphere, and this is the day of the year with the longest hours of daylight in the northern hemisphere and the shortest in the southern hemisphere. I am on the side with the longest hours of daylight, and wanted to spend some of that time doing a Mid-Year highlights of the Art Journal Caravan Gallery!
I seriously went and re-looked at 2755 layouts! That is how many pages have been uploaded by the caravaners! Two thousand, seven hundred and fifty-five layouts. I wanted to give a good reflection on the journey thus far, so these pages I highlight although fantastic are not to say better than anyone else’s. They are being highlighted as examples of the amazement that fills the AJC gallery!
I begin with Bitte and her page for the four word challenge, Fine Your Inner Artist. That she played and tried new techniques is what makes this so special to me. She also had a personal challenge and I have watched her push through to use the color orange.
Next up is HeatherT, whose work as an artist is one I was so thrilled to see the “other as in Art Journaling side”. This is a two page spread, and one side is non-digital, so I will include them both. The Process in Art Journaling is different for everyone, and I so enjoyed reading about Heather’s processing. That and the fact she had to mostly redo, because of the horror of digital, the “no no, I forgot to save” moment.

No art journal page highlights would be complete without a page by the talented and kind joannknnrd. I had oodles to choose from but I love her word for the year, and believe that she derives so much nourishment from art that it is the perfect word for her; Thrive.

The explosion of color and wowness that LazyKitty continued to bring to the gallery is always one to bring nothing but pure inspiration in her Flower Power:

Just to show, that it doesn’t take layers and layers and shadowing techniques, but just a heart that has experiences to make a art journal page that will stand out, angelextreme’s Hope is one that touches you to your core:

One of the fun parts of art journaling, is you can take the journaling and transform it with blending and subtleties that make it really art. Bernie Tuffs took real life situation and it is breathing all over her page called Belong.

Jenn33199 passion for children that are homeless is so strong and determined on her page; Won’t You Stand Up?, you can feel her righteous indignation, and I stand with her! Children are our future.

and having Hollie of Holliewood Studios as one of the guest collabs for the parcels was a treat, but she is also one of the caravaners and she so sums up life on her page Measure.

Art journaling is not something to dip your toes into, and MrsPeel sums it up most famously on her page; Diving In. I love that she breaks from the path and blazes her own in her journal. Making the journey hers!

I could go on for hours and add more and more, but the gallery is yours to browse through also. Stay tuned for next week, where we will highlight some of the pages from the tutorials that are free with the Art Journal Caravan.
Until then,
~See ya’ on the trail!
Week #24, the Best Music EVER for Art Journaling and Guest Tutorial are all up!
Listening to music can really help your mojo and creativity flow! Learn from your fellow Caravaners what they listen too to get moving and grooving! This is a thread for and by the Caravaners! I would love to know what music you listen to while you art journal. If you haven’t tried it, perhaps give this a whirl and see how the creative process changes for you.
The Itinerary is up this week also, and I have to admit, the VERB for the week might be my favorite thing to do of all time! Please pop in and see what Tangie has brought out for you to be inspired and encouraged. The parcel is also up and here is a looksie:
You will love this week’s tutorial by the one and only Sarah Barber! Learn how she did this page:
I hope you are all ready to go and create, get your camel ready! It is time to hit the trail!

SNEAK PEEK
I have to apologize for this release of Tangie’s. I wanted to yell, scream and throw myself on the floor. I am a very minimalist person, and don’t do well when I have so many choices. Tangie Baxter is just remarkable, and this is one of those you go, “I must have”
You see it? oh oh, are you going to be happy!! No fits!
Stay tuned tomorrow in the AJC forum!
