Meet and Greet: SpunMonkey
Meet and Greet: Julie Ann
This week is one of the new ladies to the Core Team for Tangie Baxter. Julie Ann. I have to tell you, her energy and creative spirit is a joy to be around. She is busy, busy, busy, and I am betting she wouldn’t want it any other way. Lets learn a bit about the lady behind all this talent:
How often do you go over the speed limit?
I almost always drive 9 miles over the speed limit.
How old are you in your dreams?
That’s a good question! I never thought about it before. I suppose my current age at the time of the dream.
Do you still (or did you ever) paper scrap? I do, I did. I started off as a paper scrapper in 2004. I’m not ever going to be able to give it up.
Do you consider yourself a traveler? Where have you traveled? I love to go to new places with my husband. I would rather the places come to me because I don’t like the tiring, exhausting travel part of the journey. My favorite trips are to beach locations, and I’m not a big city person. I’ve been to a dozen different states in the U.S., plus Canada, Mexico, France, Switzerland, and Italy.
What did you get in trouble for the most when you were a kid?
Julie Ann: I was pretty good as a kid, always the teacher’s pet, and didn’t get into much trouble at home. Mostly I got into trouble for not doing my chores right away, instead I was daydreaming!
What is your favorite thing about digital scrapbooking? One of my favorite things about digital scrapbooking is, having come from paper scrapping, the ability to re-size anything I want! It’s so awesome to be able to get things to fit just right. I really miss that ability when I work with physical products.
What were the three happiest moments in your life so far? 1) Graduating from Michigan State University – that was a surprise that day, I didn’t expect to feel so joyous
2) My marriage – I was absolutely, uncontrollable overwhelmed with happiness
3) Celebrating my 40th birthday in Mexico – something I dreamed of for about 8 months and loved every moment
Did you have a nickname in middle school or high school? I did. In middle school, I had a teacher nickname me J.Bob because my last name was Bobinchek.
Then in high school in 9th grade, for months before my family moved out of state for my dad’s dad – which was supposed to be to Indiana but turned out to be to New York, I had a teacher call me Indiana Bobinchek, kinda like Indiana Jones.
I never let anyone call me Jules, except for one person. Never liked that nickname.
In college, a roommate called me Jellybean. And of course, my husband has lots of nicknames for me, cutesy ones that you don’t want to hear.
Which is your wish that is not yet fulfilled?I always wanted to go see the Oprah show in person. The times I’ve been to Chicago she wasn’t filming. This year I’m not particular motivated though, so I guess this will be a wish unfulfilled, although I wouldn’t mind meeting Oprah in some other fashion one day.
What was your favorite toy when you were a kid? I liked setting up my Barbie’s furniture and making rooms for them, but I was really bored actually playing with the dolls. LOL I guess it foreshadowed that one day I would study Interior Design. I also really loved playing the game Mastermind with my dad.
If you had to change your name (first or last or both) what would you change it to?
I had always liked the name Rachelle and Raquel growing up. I chose Rachelle as my confirmation name, as a variation of Rachel. I thought one day my pen name might be Julie Ann Rachelle, but I’ve grown out of that now. I like my married name just fine. It sure beats “Bobinchek.” LOL
Although Julie Ann has only been on the team a short while, she has filled her gallery with some remarkable pages with Studio Tangie designs. I have to be completely honest, hybrid folks scare me with their ability to do things with such ease. Julie Ann does them and I feel encourage to try. Just look at this beautiful Altered Heart Candy Box:
Julie Ann is not just hybrid, the woman can scrap like no tomorrow also. I fell in love with her page for the AJC #11. Her quote and just the whole page to me, is like a grand mantra for life!
I hope you have enjoyed this little meet and greet of Julie Ann, she is a lovely lady and I am so glad to have her as part of the Tangie Team!!

Thank you Chengie for being my Friend
chengie: this ATC is about me, being a Gemini, showing my two sides. “back2back”, the plain, quiet, girl-next-door as opposed to the dramatic, glamour diva i can be.
How often do you go over the speed limit?
chengie: eh, you really want to know? most of the time, slightly over….
What was your worst dating experience?
chengie: I once went on a date to forget a previous boyfriend, but I kept thinking about him. so I was horribly aloof and sad.
and to make it even worse, this guy tried to kiss me and I didn’t know how fast I had to turn him my cheek.I was like ‘ewwwww’.
although, come to think of it, it wasn’t that bad, cause he kept pursuing me LOL
How old are you in your dreams?
chengie: forever 25!
Do you still (or did you ever) paper scrap?
chengie: never. although I would like to try it one time. but thinking about the glue, the mess and then cleaning up, I think it will be quite awhile before I try it.
Do you consider yourself a traveler? Where have you traveled?
chengie: not really, I’m really attached to my home. but I’ve seen the Netherlands, Belgium, Aruba, Curacao, French Guyana and I’ve been to Florida in the US.
What is your favorite LO you have ever done for Studio Tangie?
What do you do when (you think) no one is looking?
chengie: sing. very very false singing. and bop my head to the beat of the music.
If you were going to be stuck on a deserted island, which 5 books, movies, people and foods would you take along?
chengie: well, if i took the ‘Lord of the Rings’ with me, i would be satisfied for a long time!
movies, all Quentin Tarantino movies and Ocean’s series with George Clooney and Brad Pitt.
people, oh oh i know, i know: Brad Pitt LOL
actually, if I’m going to be stuck, i would rather be alone cause i KNOW i will get annoyed easily by others.
and food, lots of chocolate!
If you could go on a road trip with any person (dead or alive) who would you go with and where would you go?
chengie: If I could take my father with me (he passed away 24 years ago), it would be nice to have a little chat with him, what he would’ve taught me about life.
in that case, it wouldn’t matter where we would go, even if we just stayed in the driveway.
What is your favorite kit from Studio Tangie, will you show us your LO using that kit?
chengie: I’ve got three….take your pick LOL
#11 How did you get started and how long have you been digiscrapping?
chengie: I was looking for photo editing tutorials online when I happened to land on a freebie site. since then I got hooked collecting all freebies I could find.
it took me another year before i even started to scrap. I think that first step happened around 3 years ago.
#12 What did you get in trouble for the most when you were a kid?
chengie: I didn’t want to eat. seriously.I guess I’m making up for it the rest of my life heh.
#13 What is your favorite thing about digital scrapbooking?
chengie: that I can manipulate digital images to create art.
#14 What were the three happiest moments in your life so far?
chengie: hard question, don’t think I can answer this one.
#15 Did you have a nickname in middle school or high school?
chengie: chengie
my high school friends still use it.
#16 Which is your wish that is not yet fulfilled?
too many to name. although starting with winning the lottery would be nice LOL
#17 What was your favorite toy when you were a kid?
a pink elephant stuffed toy with the trunk still slightly attached to it because i kept holding on to it.
#18 If you have to choose a movie title for your life story, what would that be?
sorry, nothing comes to mind now.if you name it, i will say, “yes, that would be it”…..for all 100 titles named haha
#19 How many languages do you speak?
two, Dutch and English. and a little bit of Sranan Tongo, the local language in Suriname.
#20 If you had to change your name (first or last or both) what would you change it to?
nope, no changing for me.
I picked all three of chengie’s favorites, as I love them too, but she did one that I adore, it is from the same chat mentioned at the beginning! We hid Rudolph’s nose in a layout, and she was remarkable in the hiding, but the layout, not often you can think of smell in a layout, but the smoke and the people covering their faces just adds to the senses.
The Smell of December
Chengie, aka Sandra, is a bit younger than me, and I admit, I am sometimes a bit motherly towards her, nagging her to get some sleep, eat good, to share her ice cream with others and that I do worry about her. She lives in another country; Suriname and I just want to make sure she is safe. We have spent our fair amount of time chatting with each other. I love learning about her life and this layout is one of those moments!
Dress Up
I close this interview hoping you see just how much I care for this lady, she is special and I hope you are blessed to have her in your life also. Please if you see her, tell her she is awesome!!
With Great Awe, I Write This Post!! **joannknnrd** gasp *swoon*
Before I get to the meat of the blog post, you must have background and understanding. I am not an artist, but I am a lover of lovely things. I seriously would see one of joann’s canvases and my jaw would drop! I looked forward to Lorie Davison’s new releases just to see what did joann do with the kit? I enjoy her work immensely.
When I came on the “team” to help Tangie in a secretarial assistant capacity, meeting and getting to know joannknnrd was a perk! She is a delightful lady, and has been known to even give me a hard time!! Please relax and read about the lady behind all that talent:
I just fell in love with this image of Ophelia. I think it was a little rub on element, but I had such a great time blending and fiddling with it. I’ve always loved the character and I eventually printed out the page and put it in my journal. I think Ophelia was tragically misunderstood! If you were going to be stuck on a deserted island, which 5 books, movies, people and foods would you take along? I LOVE both of Tangie’s Steampunk Kit’s I don’t know about you, but if you see joannaffleck on the next new release from Tangie Baxter’s CT, we will all know how much power is in these interviews!!
But wait, like the announcers on TV, there is more, this next one, the shadows and the little dude, meander? I swear I saw the globe spin? Did you see it??? Okay, but I have to tell you in the 3 short months of being with Tangie, and seeing Joann in action, she is funny, prompt (see she got her interview in to me, so I didn’t even make up any answers), and her talent in making a person feel comfortable is right up there with her creative awesomeness.

f you had to change your name (first or last or both) what would you change it to?
I close out the interview with a few of my favorite Joann pages….I am always in awe how she can take an element and give it the ability to move, or make your brain see it move, these are my favorite two examples, the first is I will Fall and now, I had the same kit, I had that lady in my elements folder, and she was just standing there, Joann gave her the ability to fall and move…do you see that? Goodness, gracious!
To me, this is pure genius!
I hope you enjoy this time with Joann, and as I bring it to an end, it would not be complete without my ultimate, most favorite layout of hers. The first time I saw it, I really did gasp! Goodbye Summer. Here are some of the comments left on the page: freakingly amazing!!, quelle imagination !!! bravo !!!!, I think it is a perfect way to bring this to an end and say Good Bye!
The ENERGY of Gina Michelle!! Read all about her!!
I have to tell you, people have said, that I am energetic, but I think in comparison to Gina I am comatose! She is a bundle of energy, and she gets giggles and joy from life in abundance! I love her attitude about life and I hope you enjoy this fun interview with one of Tangie’s Creative Team Members! You know her as GinaMichelle1111, here is her words:
What was your worst dating experience? My worst dating experience was when I got asked out on a date by a rather so-so looking guy but we knew each other from high school and after I accepted the date and he was just about to pick me up for the evening, I realized I had already gone on a date with him a couple of years prior and it was awful!!
Yes, I paper scrapped for 7 years and still scrap that way from time to time. I had started while I was pregnant for my first child but now I have an 18 month old so it is actually impossible to have all those materials out to get anything scrapped that way at least until he is a bit older.
My favorite layout using Tangie’s gorgeous creations is: The Craziness in My Mind.
I would take Chester Bennington, the lead singer of Linkin Park as that is my all time favorite band and he could sing to me the whole way and we could jam together and probably go to Seattle. Why Seattle? Great coffee and great music!
My favorite kit by Tangie is: Compendium of Daydreams. Here is the link to my page titled One of a Kind:
As mentioned before I paper scrapped first but in college I took Advertising Design and Graphic Design although back then it wasn’t done on computers but I have always had a passion for computers so it was a natural transition. I have been digi scrapping since the fall of 2007 and it really is my preferred way to scrap. I tried paper scrapping last year at a crop and I found that I did not like my paper style as much as my digi style. I basically asked a graphic designer friend of mine to show me how to get started with Photoshop and that was with PSE 3 and now I use CS4.
I love that I can take my addiction anywhere. I love the versatility of the craft and that I can use my stash over and over again; being able to resize and re-color the elements and papers. Most of all, I love all the new friends I have made over the years because of my love for digi!
Marrying my husband and the birth of my two children
Learning how to sing so I can be in a famous heavy metal rock band playing to millions of fans all head- banging to my music.
If you have to choose a movie title for your life story, what would that be?
About Last Night…you don’t want to know why….hee hee
Anne here and I am sure you have a smile on your face after reading all about Gina!! I too am in love with her layout, The Craziness in My Mind.
One of her latest layouts, captured her spirit: Dare to Face My Fear which was done for the Art Journal Caravan (she is kicking doing this project also)
I love the picture, the energy and the Oh YEAH, we did it feel to her page!! OldVWBlues, one of the VIP team members for Tangie summed it up in her comment on Gina’s page: “This page is absolutely awesome! love the jubilant photo..and great journaling! How perfect this parcel is for your story and photo…it’s super!!”
She has been very modest in her interview, but Gina has been published in many e-zines and is a go getter with the kindest heart. I add one more layout of the darling of the team, because it is her so complete: From Books to Laptops! This one was indeed published in the Artisan September 2010! I was in awe when I saw it then and again each time I look at it!
Thank you for taking time to learn about the one of the ladies on Tangie’s Creative Team. Stay tuned for more about the team members, next Saturday!
I have told the ladies, I am gonna make up their answers, so I know they are all rushing to get their interviews back to me!

Creepy Inspiration
Being that this is the last Sunday of October, I thought I’d bring you some creepy inspiration. I am a huge Disney fan and love how Disney has incorporated Tim Burton’s a Nightmare Before Christmas throughout their Disneland amusement park for the entire month of October. I recently came across this artisit, Jeffrey Thomas, and I have to say, he is a pure comic genius. He has incorporated his own creepy twist on the beautiful Disney women characters that we’ve grow up to love and admire. Here are some highlights of my Disney favorites looking all dark and twisty….
Inspirational Sundays is Back with a New Twist!
Hey Everyone, Inspirational Sundays are back to give you some “food for thought” and inspiration in stretching your creative limits.
This Sunday’s theme is about honoring your creative process. When I’m in a scrapping funk, I could have an amazingly cool kit that I just download and not have a clue what to do with it. I could sit there for hours with the intent of scrapping, then be distracted by Facebook or checking email or watching the latest episodes of my favorite tv shows on hulu.com. Then, a couple days later, I could be walking around downtown and spy a card shop that has an inspiring collage in the window. Then BAM! I can’t get home fast enough to scrap from my recent inspiration. All I have to say, is thank goodness for cameras on phone. This is just a quick and short reminder that it’s ok to be in a scrapping funk sometimes. Give yourself some inspiration slack. If you’re in a funk, take a break. Walk around in your neighborhood. Check in with reality, because i know how sometimes that gets neglected when you are on the insipration high
Scraplift one of your favorite scrapper or participate in a blog challenge. Whatever you choose to do, honor the process of your creativity and have faith that through the still waters and cloudy sky of your creativity, there is a sunshine of inspiration itching to pop out behind the clouds.
Inspirational Sundays
