Several years ago Tangie turned to me and said “I want to start my own web site!”. What she eventually turned out was a great little forum site for her and her friends. I was amazed at what she did. I however took another several years to learn what a “THREAD” was. Eventually after Tangie started her own store site www.TangieBaxter.com (shameless plug) and suddenly she needed my help. “Help!!!?” I thought to myself , I still didn’t know what a Thread was. Thankfully Tangie introduced me to Lynda, lynda.com that is.

Lynda.com is a wonderful tutorial site where for:$25 a month or $250 a year or a Premium $375 that includes exercise files you can lean how to create web sites, Photo Shop your favorite TV or Movie hunk into your family reunion photos

Computers seem to keep getting faster. . . the Internet keeps getting faster but downloading zip files and opening them seemed to just get slower and slower for me! One day I had finally had enough. My built in Windows Vista© zip tool was crawling slower than a turtle to hare salon. I started searching for a alternate zip program. However in order to download Winzip© I had to try one of their “sponsors” and sign up for junk email ( Who wants that) I finally ran across a Shareware site called 7-Zip.org
7-zip is whats called open source software (which means its FREEEEEEEE) it also is constantly getting updated and improved by people who like to program computers for fun. Here are some of its features:

The main features of 7-Zip

• High compression ratio in new 7z format with LZMA compression
• Supported formats:
  • Packing / unpacking: 7z, ZIP, GZIP, BZIP2 and TAR
  • Unpacking only: ARJ, CAB, CHM, CPIO, DEB, DMG, HFS, ISO, LZH, LZMA, MSI, NSIS, RAR, RPM, UDF, WIM, XAR and Z.

What does all this mean? Well simply put 7-zip technology can UNZIP your compressed files easier and faster than anything you can purchase. I may sound like a commercial for 7-zip ( if the developers are reading this we take Pay-Pal for out advertising space), but it really has helped Tangie and myself be able to work smarter to get all her products compressed and ready to up-load to the Studio.
