Saturday’s Are For Fun: Map Trend Watch
by Julie Ann Shahin
Welcome to my new Saturday’s Are Fun Series. I’ll be posting on Trends (Fashion, Home, Scrapbooking), Vintage/Flea Market Finds, Altered Art, and other fun things every Saturday.
Trend Watch: Everyday I spend about 15 minutes or so, checking out what my friends are pinning on Pinterest. “Map Love” is popping up over and over and over again. There are many ways you can use maps in your scrapbooking and art. Here is a closer look at this emerging trend:
You can frame maps of the places you’ve lived and make a lovely vignette.
Create a bird die-cut or hand-cut silhouette for use as an embellishment.
Recycled maps make stylish prize ribbons and rosettes, also an emberging trend.
Vintage maps are used for bunting, another big trend also ongoing now.
Need a gift idea? Decoupage a map onto a thrift store bangle!
Diecut butterflies from maps and frame them into art.
Make double-layer punched butterflies for beautiful embellishments.
Take a map and create wearable art!
Here’s a great map-themed scrapbook from Martha Stewart.
A map is a fast and easy way to decorate a monogram letter.
Child’s play can be had with map-covered blocks.
Need to jazz up your frames? Wrap them in maps!
A sew-fun flower just begging to be made!
Here are some of the Studio Tangie products that are map-related, you might have some in your stash already, and feel free to stock up! Click on images to be taken to Tangie’s Store and see additional previews.
